Custom Surfboard

 

 

Shinkawa Customs approached blupointscan inquiring if we could scan a custom shaped surfboard to verify key design criteria and to develop a data set for a limited production run of identical surfboards.

 

We scanned the surfboard to verify that the board was symmetrically balanced from side to side, to determine the degree of curvature front to back (also known as rocker) and to confirm the rail details where symmetric across the stringer (the center wooden spine). We developed a highlight map to showcase the shaping contours of the board and to verify symmetry. After presenting, reviewing and confirming the results with the client, we created a data set for milling a limited run of identical surfboards.
